Our approach to international projects: from French farmhouses to Italian holiday retreats.

We’ve always believed that great design travels well. Over the past few years, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to take on more international projects, and we’re absolutely loving it!

From a charming countryside home in the south of France that’s just wrapped after two years of thoughtful renovation, to a peaceful soon-to-be holiday home tucked into the Italian mountains, and even a stunning family home in Canada, a project that hits close to home, it’s been a joy to see our design language moulded across different landscapes and lifestyles.

How do we approach international projects?

The short answer? We treat our international projects with the same care, attention, and flair as any we take on here in the UK. The difference just lies in the logistics and luckily, we’ve got it down to a fine art.

We manage every step closely, from the initial concept to installation. Site visits are crucial to us, especially abroad. We believe in being present, soaking up the atmosphere of a place, and building trust with local trades and artisans so it’s important we schedule in the right amount of time in our international projects to do this.

All procurement is still done in-house. We work closely with our trusted upholsterers, makers, and suppliers to keep everything seamless. When it comes to storing your items, we order them to our UK storage facility until the project is ready for installation, and then we handle shipping and logistics on our end. We will always be on-site for the installation of the project. It’s always important that we see this stage of the process through. Your project is important to us and we want to make sure it’s handled with great care back by in-depth knowledge of every aspect.

The result of this is a super smooth process and transition for our clients. If you’d rather arrive with just a suitcase and toothbrush to find everything perfectly in place, be our guest!

Drawing from Local Context, While Staying True to Our Style

One of the most rewarding parts of working internationally is the opportunity to draw inspiration from a new and different landscape while still bringing our signature touch to the project. For us, it’s about finding that beautiful balance between the history, architecture, and culture of the surrounding area and the personality of the client.

In our French countryside project, we layered in traditional French elements—provincial antiques, locally sourced tiles, beautiful old French baskets, and hand-thrown porcelain specific to the region. These pieces grounded the home in its setting and gave it a sense of timeless authenticity.

In Italy, we found endless inspiration just by walking the streets of the local village. The architecture, the colours, the textures—it all informs our design decisions. One of our favourite discoveries was a beautiful painted ceiling in a restaurant that completely captured our imagination. We’re now incorporating a hand-painted ceiling in the kitchen of our Italian project, a subtle but striking nod to the local vernacular that still feels entirely us.

And on an Irish coastal project, we had the opportunity to infuse a secondary home with the same level of comfort and sophistication we’re known for. Embracing opulent jewel tones and rich, intricate textures, our aim was to create a cohesive narrative that gently guides you through the space. The home’s vast open-concept layout, bathed in natural light and with sweeping views of the surrounding coastline, provided the perfect canvas. We leaned into bold hues and dynamic patterns, especially fitting for a holiday home, resulting in interiors that feel both dramatic and deeply inviting.

We always say that design is storytelling and when working abroad, we’re just adding a few more chapters full of charm, context, and, of course, a little bit of whimsy. Whether it’s a private home, a rental retreat for guests, or (hopefully soon!) a boutique hotel, we love nothing more than helping our clients bring their dream spaces to life wherever they may be in the world.
