We absolutely adore designing homes in Oxford and Oxfordshire. With its rich tapestry of history, nestled amongst rolling countryside, it’s hard not to feel endlessly inspired. This is a place where heritage meets modern living and every home tells its own story.
Oxford and its surrounding villages are blessed with some of the UK’s most beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture. These homes were built with such generosity of scale: lofty ceilings, elegant sash windows, and rooms flooded with natural light. The bones of these properties are already extraordinary and that makes our job both exciting and effortless.
When you walk into a typical Georgian Oxford home, you’re immediately struck by the symmetry, the proportions, the grace. It’s a reminder that good design has always been about balance. In our projects, we like to honour that grandeur while layering in contemporary comforts whether that’s through rich textures, playful patterns, or a bold injection of colour. It’s about making these historic homes sing for the way people live today.
Victorian houses across Oxfordshire with their detailed cornicing, stained glass, and charming nooks, provide another kind of inspiration. They invite warmth and character, and we love to enhance that with carefully chosen materials and bespoke joinery. A Victorian drawing room, for example, might be the perfect backdrop for a statement wallpaper or a velvet sofa that feels both timeless and fresh.
But inspiration here isn’t limited to period architecture. Even the more modern homes we design in Oxfordshire carry echoes of the region’s heritage. The principles of scale, light, and proportion inform everything we do. We take cues from the city’s gothic spires, its collegiate quads and its grand stone buildings as reminders that design should feel rooted, lasting, and beautiful.
One of our favourites is the restoration of a sunlit Victorian villa in Park Town, Oxford. Over six generous bedrooms, this home already boasted commanding proportions, scale, and light, the kind of “great bones” that make creative leaps feel natural. The brief was both simple and bold: create a home that feels fresh and neutral yet unmistakably stamped with our voice. So we painted it white, layered in blue-and-white ceramics, and introduced natural textures, rattan, wicker, and soft linens, to warm the clean lines and cool palette. The result is a house that’s elegant yet approachable, its light-filled rooms allowing each texture and detail to breathe. It stands apart without shouting, a kind of quiet confidence that feels very Oxford.
At the heart of our work is a simple idea: interiors should feel personal, layered, and alive. Whether it’s a Georgian townhouse, a Victorian villa, or a modern countryside retreat, we always aim to create spaces that reflect the spirit of Oxford while telling the story of the people who live there. Because after all, the most inspiring homes aren’t just well designed, they’re lived in, loved, and full of personality.
